Designer Show House-
"The Painted Room" click

"An
18th-century home situated on 12 acres of rolling green
hills on the edge of Chesterbrook has been rejuvenated
by more than 20 area interior and landscape designers to
serve as the 2005 Vassar Show House... On the
second floor of the house, David Bruce Michener of
Interior Dimensions Studio in Valley Forge created The Painted Room.
Describing the room as "a tribute to Claude Monet
and his Impressionist art," Michener said, 'Our
objective was to make the viewer an actual participant
in the painting. You are actually in the middle of a
painting because the room is painted from floor to
ceiling.'
Wall murals and the decorative floor blend with
paintings based on Monet works and accessories
reflective of Monet's Giverny Garden in France."

"
David Michener is a great artist, and his work is the
best I have seen. The mural that he has done for
my upstairs dining room has enhanced the beauty of the
room."

"Michener
is a modern- day
Michelangelo. His painted walls and
ceilings have enhanced the appearance of many of the area's
loveliest homes and restaurants.
Just to cite a few of the most-often seen works of his
firm, Interior Dimensions: Le Bec-Fin has a ceiling mural by
Michener, a whimsical takeoff of Fragonard's famous painting,
"The Swing"; at La Truffe David painted the outside
facade and indoor mural that was a homage to Monet; at
La Famiglia he did a 70-foot mural of an Italian countryside
across three walls."

"A
table made by Michener reflects his
daring approach to interior design and his penchant for
bringing a touch of the outdoors inside... BEDROCK
furniture pieces are individually designed for each
buyer and for specific settings. Michener uses a
multi-step process to produce the "faux stone"
art furniture pieces. Michener's works are currently
on display at Chestnut Hill Art & Design."

"CAPE
MAY, NEW JERSEY– With its 2011 Designer Show House is
a big hit this summer season, the Mid-Atlantic Center
for the Arts & Humanities (MAC)
is boosting knowledge of local artists as well as
designers."
"Murals
fill wall space ..., including a second floor bedroom in
which artist David Bruce Michener painted a ceiling to
look like a sky. One looks up at ethereal clouds in
which several exquisite birds are flying – painted in
such detail that Michener included the birds’ delicate
feet, exactly as one might view them from the ground.
MAC volunteer Frank Dynan said he frequently hears
guests commenting on the artwork."

"Transformed by
the artistry of David Bruce Michener of Interior
Dimensions Studio in Valley Forge. Michener’s
outstanding trompe l’oeil murals, garden themes, are legendary in several Philadelphia-area
restaurants. In the Garden Room at Becca’s
restaurant, guests sit surrounded, floor to ceiling,
by the enchantment of an Elizabethan country garden
scene."

"Michener's
"Going up" is a designer room created for the Vassar
Show House at Houstonia. It is a satirical theme of a
"whimsical ride on an elevator to the top of the Empire
State Building's observatory and New York city of the 1930s.
Michener, whose Interior Dimensions studio is in Valley Forge,
gives a sultry interpretation to the room in deep tones of
red. It's Michener's artistry, like his Van Gogh room in
last year's show house, that attracts the most attention.
A bellhop, properly tipped, painted near the door gives the
impression of exiting the elevator. The walls are faux
sandstone block, and looking through the observatory windows
is the surprise of the room- King Kong!"

Stranded, I wish. Inspired by the film
"Castaway," Vassar
veteran David Bruce Michener from Interior Dimensions
did it again with a south Pacific- themed retreat
complete with a larger-than-life war god and hammock.
Michener never puts a leash on his creativity.
